Creating a capital call in Maybern

Maybern unlocks the highest level of detail in capital calls, equalizations, and distributions.

How-To

To create a new Capital Call in Maybern:

  1. Navigate to Capital Activity in the main menu on the left sidebar

  2. Click Run Capital Event on the top right

  3. Select the Effective Date and Notice Date of the new event

  4. Click Add Capital Call

  5. Click Add Call at various levels of your fund structure

  6. Select uses at each level:

    • Optionally select an Investment to link to the use

    • Optionally override the default Allocation Rule used to allocate the capital call to LPs

    • Enter an Amount to call for each use

    • Click Add Call to add uses at each level

  7. Click Continue to Investor Breakdown at the bottom right to view the investor breakdown

  8. Review the Investor Breakdown to see how the capital call is allocated

  9. Click Add Call to add the call to the capital event

  10. Click Run Waterfall

  11. Click Finalize Event to finalize the capital call

Tips & Tricks

  • Investor Breakdown: Before finalizing capital calls, click through the investor breakdown screens to see how capital will be allocated up the fund structure.

  • Fee Call Options: When calling for management fees, configure at the fund family level whether to call for net fees (after offsets) or gross fees based on your fund's LPA.

  • View Past Events: Click into any past capital event from the Capital Activity list.

  • Custom Transaction Codes: Leverage specific transaction codes to enable special allocation rules and waterfall treatments.

  • Export Flexibility: Group data in the Investor Breakdown table before exporting to ensure optimal formatting.

Roles & Permissions

  • Admin & Power users can create and finalize capital calls

  • User users can create capital calls but cannot finalize

  • View Only users cannot create capital calls, but can view past capital activity
